On Thursday, January 2, 2020, beloved brother, uncle, father, and grandfather, William “Bill” Keith Sandlian Sr., also known as “Grandpa,” passed away surrounded by family and loved ones. He was seventy years old. Bill was born in Woodland, CA, on November 6, 1949, to Merle and Clara Sandlian (nee Gosvenor.) After graduating from Huntsville High School in Arkansas, Bill was drafted into the Army and served in Vietnam, earning the rank of E5 Sergeant during his nineteen months of service. After returning home, Bill married Karen McMeechan. Together, they had two children, Kristin and William Jr. “Billy.” Bill had a passion for people. He treated all with whom he came into contact with kindness and a ready smile. His charm and wit earned him many accolades and awards during his career as a bus driver, and his home was often full of the friends of his children, many of whom claimed Bill as a second father. A devoted and proud grandfather, Bill was always ready to share the stories and accomplishments of his two grandsons, Keith and Kaleb. He encouraged their every endeavor, and could often be found coaching and cheering on their teams. In addition, Bill loved sports and games. He played softball, was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed cards and dice. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Clara, and two siblings, Donald Sandlian and Shirley Walker. He is survived by his children, Kristin and Billy (Leah) Sandlian; grandsons PFC Keith Sandlian and Kaleb Sandlian; siblings Ginger Reid, Merle (Loretta) Sandlian, and Kathleen (Don) Wright; honorary children Anne (Brady) Baker, Denise (Tom) Casazzone, Kieth (Danelle) Nagy, and Lisa (Joe) McDaniel; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and honorary grandchildren.
