Obituary For Wilfredo Rafael Ortiz

Wilfredo Rafael Ortiz (Ralph) age 40, passed away suddenly from an aneurysm in Tacoma Washington at St. Joseph Hospital on September 3, 2024 at 3:26 PM.

Ralph was born on July 25, 1984 in Lakewood Washington and lived there his entire life. He graduated from Steilacoom High School as valedictorian in 2003. He went on to graduate from the University of Washington - Tacoma in 2009 with a bachelor degree in Engineering/Computer Science. He worked as a Senior Front End Website Developer for over 10 years at REI.

Ralph never married or had children. Ralph is survived by his mother, Sarah Ortiz, sisters Tessa Milano-Burr (Donald), Cynthia Vermette (Christopher), Nicholle Ortiz (Forest), Aunts Luz Nayda Ortiz, Cmaria Ortiz, Madeline Ortiz-Rodriguez, Velma Jones-White (Eric) and Carol Levy, uncles David Ortiz, Rene Ortiz and Virgil A. Jones III (Danielle), niece Riley Vermette and nephew DJ Burr Jr. and many cousins and friends. Ralph is preceded in death by his father, Wilfredo Ortiz, grandparents Virgil A. and Mavis Jones Jr. and Jose and Carmen Ortiz, Aunt Miriam Ortiz and Uncle Carlos Levy along with many cousins.

Ralph was a Christian who had a gentle, quiet spirit and a strong sense of integrity and loyalty. Creating and playing video games, website development, and designing computer graphics were his passion. He was a very supportive, kind and giving person. Always available to help anyone that asked. Ralph made a habit to give positive words and encouragement to all who crossed his path.

This world is definitely a little dimmer as Ralph was a shinning light.

Ralph was loved by many. We will always remember the sound of his laughter, and the smile on his face as he immersed himself in a cyber/virtual world or spent time with family and friends.

Ralph has finished the race and is resting with the Lord. He has been welcomed to his new home and heard the words “well done my good and faithful servant”. (Matthew 25:21)

Ralph we love and miss you. You will never be forgotten. For us still here on this earth may we see this as not a final good bye but instead see you later.

Arrangements were provided by Sumner Voiles Funeral Chapel. Interment and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Such a wonderful person that truly embodied what it meant to show kindness to others. You worked tirelessly to keep up with your friends and to make them smiles and wanted nothing more in return. I continue to miss you daily and hope that, one day, we'll be able to see each other again. Until then, I will continue to push on. Much love to you, my friend.

An amazing man, and a gift from god. My life is so much better for having had him in it, and I'm grateful for the time we had.

He truly practiced what he preached, spreading love, compassion and charity. Believing people can change and change for the better at that. Further, he inspired so many and helped them to have better lives. There was no better example of an actual good caring everyday person than him. I wish I could see you again, and hopefully one day I will.

If it was not for you I would not be here, in more ways than one. You helped me more then you could ever imagine. You helped everyone you saw, because helping others is all that you knew how to do. I will never forget you, and all that you did for me.

The world is a brighter place because he was in it. He made me so happy and gave me so much confidence. He inspired so many people to keep his kindness going and will live on through all of us.
