Obituary For Norval Cunningham

In Loving Memory of

Rev. Norval (Sandy) L Cunningham

Norval was born in Elma, WA on November 4, 1950. He passed in Tacoma, WA on December 29, 2020. He was a Vietnam era vet, having served his first tour in Germany. Upon returning to the United States, he pursued a career of his own making that allowed him to be involved with his love of boats and the water, eventually earning the title of Master Shipwright, as well as Naval Architect and Marine Surveyor. Upon retiring, he built his own 900+ sq. ft. houseboat on which he lived for the last 20+ years.

His hobbies included fishing, electronics, sailing, computers, science fiction, astronomy and flying. After returning from Vietnam he pursued, with impassioned zeal, lifelong biblical research and study, eventually becoming a reverend. He lived and worked on Whidbey Island, Friday Harbor and Orcas Island, Hoquiam, Seattle, Lincoln City in Oregon, Olympia and finally Tacoma. He is survived by all those who love and respect him - and there are many! He was a wise, intelligent, honest and fair man. He will be sorely missed.

Due to the pandemic and concern for family and friends, his final wish will be delayed until the summer of 2021. The date and time will be announced later.

Someone so special can never be forgotten. Norval\'s health had not been good for some time and Norval lost his fight December 29th peacefully at Tacoma General Hospital at 4:25 p.m. He will be greatly missed. Personally, I am going to be lost not reading the Bible with Him every morning, hearing His voice and laughter.

Well it\'s been a year now and John Mellencamp said it best, life goes on long after the thrill of living is gone.
