He was born on April 17th 1957 at Hamilton Air Force Base in California to his parents Roger Jeffs and Barbra Ball (Foley). Mother Barbara later married Gary Lewis and the family moved to Washington in the late 60's. He attended Lindbergh High School and joined the US Air Force May of 1974 at the age of 17. After retiring, he continued his passion of building and modifying race cars.
