Obituary For Memie Mae Arima

Memie (Mae) Arima 94, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2023 at Good Samaritan Hospital
In Puyallup, Wash. Surrounded by her family.
Born on January 26, 1929 to Tom and Fuji Kudo in Port Hammond British Columbia.
She attended Port Hammond Public School and Japanese School until 1942 when they were
relocated to Tashme Internment Camp. After the war they moved to Chatham Ontario and
Mae went to Toronto Ontario to study Fashion Design. In 1950 she attended a dance
and met Frank Arima they were married in Chatham in 1951. They lived in Detroit Michigan
until 1955 then they moved to Wyoming to help on a family farm. In 1960 they moved to Algona
Washington where Mae helped on the Arima farm and also worked as a seamstress at
Rottles Department store in Auburn. They were able to move into a new home in Federal
Way in 1963. Mae helped start Mt Fuji Gardening and worked until 1980. In later years due to health
issues she moved to Stafford Suites in Sumner for several years. Finally as Mae’s needs increased she
moved to “Destiny Adult Family Home” in Orting Washington.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband around the country for Church, Landscape and especially
Visiting Family and Friends. Always active she enjoyed many hobbies: Sewing, Crocheting, Knitting,
Bunka, Cooking, Golfing, Gardening and Crossword/Jigsaw puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her Father, Mother and Three beloved Brothers (Aki, Albert and Minoru).
She leaves behind her Two sons (Scott and Robert), Daughter In Law Misako and Two Granddaughters
(Michelle and Melissa).
The family will be holding a Private Family of Life Celebration on September 23, 2023.
