Obituary For Larry James Reed

Beloved Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle and Friend Larry James Reed passed away October 31, 2025. He leaves behind a lifetime of giving and an unwavering love for his family and friends. He was born in Seattle, WA in August 1961 to Richard Willis Reed and Dolores Blanche Hobson Reed where he grew up with his four siblings Diana, Denise, Greg and Garry in Bothell, WA sharing, love, laughter, and comedic adventures.

During high school, Larry described himself as "not Booksmart," though I disagree with that view. While he faced academic challenges, he thrived in vocational areas and carried those strengths into his adult life, which resulted in him becoming a very fine carpenter. He excelled in several other areas as well, such as landscaping and even jewelry design, owning his own Jewelry store at one point in time. He developed expertise in multiple disciplines and demonstrated considerable proficiency in carpentry and landscaping, consistently applying his knowledge and skills to assist others. Larry was always willing to lend a helping hand and enjoyed doing so.

Larry also found a lot of joy in the simple things that life had to offer. The dog that won his heart and will be waiting for him, Max. His granddaughters' laughter whenever he brought ice cream. The smiles and banter with siblings that he skunked at crib, cuddles with his cat Smudge, a sunny day spent garage sailing and then giving the perfect “gift” that he found. He lived for these simple things.

Larry’s greatest legacy is the love he bestowed on his family and friends.

Larry loved life and enjoyed every minute of every day. He tried to learn from his mistakes and always strove to be a better version of himself than he was yesterday. He would claim “I’m a work in progress.” I believe he is a masterpiece.

Larry is preceded in death by his mother and father and his sister Diana.

He is survived by his wife and best friend Stephanie, Stepdaughter Nikkole and Steven, Stepdaughter Taylor, Stepson Anthony and Chloe, Granddaughters, Alyssa, Haydn, Zoey and Daisy, Grandson Anthony, Brothers Greg and Carol, Garry and Brandy, Sister Denise. Numerous nieces and nephews, grand, nieces and nephews and cousins. And so many near and dear, close to his heart friends.

I love you to the moon, I love you to the stars, all the way around Mars, infinity, eternity and beyond baby.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date TBD.

Larry... I will always remember you! Your love for Chad (who preceded you in Heaven) was something special. You and Stephanie were his rock. There are s no question that you loved well. I remember when Dan and I were moving to Nevada... You were like a kid in a candy store with all the things we were not going to take with us. I think Stephanie benefited from some of that, too. 😊 Your smile and humor will be with me always. I'll never forget how just hearing your voice brought Chad back to "life" when he was in the hospital. When you arrived anywhere, things got better. Larry... you made a difference... for Chad, for me, and for everyone who knew you. I look forward to hearing that big voice again when I see you again. I'm laughing thinking of Heaven with you and Chad up there! John 14:2 & 4 "...There are many rooms in my Father's house. You know the way..." Thank you for being an amazing "brother" to Chad and me when we needed you most! I love you Lare-Bear (and you, too, Stephanie). Xoxoxo.

Larry was a ninth grader at Leota junior high . I had the privilege of being his vice principal! Larry was always up to some kind of shenanigan. He would get sent to my office. He would typically say with that big smile on his face. "Mr. Young got to admit it was pretty funny". And typically it was funny. Larry had a great sense of humor and it was fun to have him around.

Larry Reed was a life long friend. We shared many adventures in our 54 years of a long friendship. I love you always my brother and when it's my time to pass I will be looking for you on that 50 yard line. Scott Andrews.
