Kody is my son. He was an easy child growing up. Having him around was always so fun. I heard him cry maybe 5 times. He was very easy to teach and caught on fast. He would listen to what you asked him to do and wouldn't complain. I'd say he learned to be good at 2 years old. That's when he learned about and got his first time out. We asked him to put his toys back in his toybox but he didn't listen. So I told him about the time out correction method. And had him stay in the bathroom for almost 2 minutes. While i stood on the other side of the door. Telling him this is what's going to happen when you don't listen to your mom or dad. This is one of the times I heard him cry. It was smooth sailing after that. Just mention the word timeout and whatever you asked him to do was done. He had a strong positive mindset and spirit. He was 2 yrs old when he winged himself off of using the pacifier. Me and his mom encouraged him by saying hey Kody you don't need that pacifier anymore it's for baby's. Get rid of it throw it in the trash. And that's what he did and never asked for a pacifier again. He always did impressive things like that. I hear stories of some children having a difficult time getting rid of their pacifier. Not Kody always made things easy. He dedicated himself to martial arts all of his highschool years Instead of going surfing after school, he would be on his way to his dojo. He started out at about 2 years old. the youngest one in class. At the Cajun Karate dojo that was under the old Spaghetti factory across Fisherman's wharf in Honolulu.. His aunt Eiko Soranaka always made sure he got to class on time all the time. Kody loved it from the first day of class. He wouldn't stop tumbling sideways backwards forwards. He found his enjoyment in Martial arts just like his Cousin Scott Suzui shoot fighting instructor and his grandfather Tsuneo Soranaka Jujitsu/wrestling instructor. It was in his blood and this was therapy and enjoyment. He was also a Godly child. He would attend and volunteer as a candle bearer, worship leader at the Nuuanu Congregational Church where his aunty "Etchi" Eiko Soranaka was a pastor. I thank God that I was blessed to have an awesome son like him. He was a Saint in fact he was even born on Saint Patrick's day. I never thought or imagined he would go before me. But I'm sure glad he went out not being thoughtless. He was still concerned for others as he donated his organs to give 3 other people a chance to live filled with joy and life. I Love you Kody my awesome son. Thanks for being so easy to be with and always getting along so well. Your a good example of what a good child is and how they should be like. I remember the last conversation we had on the phone. I was impressed again when you told me how content you were and your life is fine the way it is You didn't need to be some big boss. Because you like the way life is going and you feel content. Your awesome son. You've brought me many fun and enjoyable times and memories that I will always store in my heart. Your now home in heaven. So please give God and Jesus Christ a hug for me every chance you get. Love you Koko. P.S. I can hear Kody say to me "Don't be sad Dad. I'm in a better place enjoying myself and I'm stazzed. I get to see you all more now than when I was there"
