Kathryn Esther Wardell, age 74, of Puyallup, WA, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones on December 19, 2023. She was born on January 29, 1949, in Havre, Montana, to Arnold and Mayme Turner. Kathryn was a beloved wife, mother, and nana, known for her kind and loving nature towards her family and friends.
Kathryn is survived by her devoted husband of 35 years, Mike Wardell, her loving children Marc Hines (Candy) and Stacie Sherwood (Seth), step children Matthew Wardell and Jessica Lindley. Her brother and sister-in-law Rory and Laurel Turner and sister-in-law Sandy Turner. Her 13 cherished grandchildren Conner, Makenzie, Drew, Tyler, Paityn, Ryan, Aydan, Dylan, Gavin, Victoria, Garrick, Naomi, and Body. Several beloved nieces and nephews and her faithful dogs who never left her side, Lilly and Bella. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert Turner.
Kathryn was a graduate of Sumner High School and later attended Green River Community College. She had a successful career as a bookkeeper, working at Paradise Village Bowl, South Tacoma Business Park and Genesis Chiropractic Clinic.
In her free time, Kathryn enjoyed indulging in her hobbies of reading, bowling, and watching her grandchildren play sports. She found joy in spending quality time with her loved ones at their cabin in Leavenworth.
Kathryn will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kind and loving nature and beautiful smile will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
A public viewing will be held Thursday, December 28th at 1-3pm at Sumner Voiles Funeral Chapel in Sumner, WA. A Celebration of life is planned for January. Date, time and venue to be determined.
