Joseph Cughan left us all too soon and passed away unexpectedly on April 26, 2024. Born on July 27, 1980 and raised in Puyallup, he was a proud graduate of Puyallup High School where he nurtured his passions for both electronics and theatre. His creative spirit shone brightly as he took the stage in memorable productions such as "Arsenic and Old Lace" and "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe."
After high school, he pursued his dreams further, graduating from the Seattle Art Institute with a specialization in audio production. His dedication and talent paved the way for a successful career as the lead technical director at the AHS Performing Arts Center, where he poured his heart and soul into every production.
Though his journey was not without its challenges, his devotion to his family, including his beloved son Remy, remained unwavering. He approached life with a warm smile, a quick wit, and a genuine kindness that touched the lives of all who knew him. Whether it was lending an ear or sharing a laugh, he made everyone feel welcomed and valued.
In his passing, he leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will forever live on in the hearts of his parents Ron and Pat, his sister Deborah, his cherished son Remy, and all those who were fortunate enough to have known him. Though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will continue to shine bright in the memories we hold dear.

Joe and I were friends in high school and in our 20s. We were in drama club together, hung out together with friends, and were in many plays together. We were both in the lion, the witch and the wardrobe. He was the lion and I was the witch. He was such a kind human. One year I didn't have anything planned for my birthday and he gathered some close friends and even made a birthday cake for me with sparkler candles. RIP Joe.

Worked with Joe for many years at the Auburn Performing Arts Center we shared some wonderful times together.. He loved his work and the kids so much. As he did Remy his son. I remember Joe Bringing Remy down to work at times in his early years.. It was apparent he loved Remy so much. Joe was always filled with so much pride. Joe I will Miss Your Spirit and YOUR Friendship most of all.

Joe was the best human and cousin someone could've ever known! I feel so lucky I got to grow up with and look up to someone as caring and cool as Joseph was. He will be someone I will think about and miss often. I hope there's some type of after life where we will be able to chat again. Sincerest condolences to Aunt Pat, Uncle Ron, Deb and Remy. <3

Ron, Pat, Deb, and Remy, My heart aches for you all. Joe touched his family members in so many positive ways. I've always thought of Joe as a "Gentle Giant." He towered over most of us, but had a softness about him that made everyone feel comfortable in his presence. I remember how he used to help Grandma Alice in her later years when she was having computer problems. He would never let on if the issue might have something to with "operator error." She would insist that she needed Joe's help and he would come and "fix" her computer. Joe had a heart of gold and he will be greatly missed.
