James Frank Patera was born on July 24, 1939 to parents Anton and Ida Patera. He was raised on a farm in Simpson, Montana and graduated from Havre High School in 1956. Jim joined the US Navy in 1957 and was honorably discharged in 1960. After leaving the Navy he found a career as an electrician where he eventually retired. Jim was active in state politics and his union. James passed away September 22, 20221 and is survived by his sister Carolyn; his brother Robert; son Curtis; and grandchildren Owen and Sarah.
