James \"Jim\" L. Balcom, age 71, passed away peacefully at home in Puyallup, WA. on Wednesday, January 6th, 2021, with his wife Becky by his side after a long battle against multiple strokes. Jim was born on June 24th, 1949 in Renton, WA. and was a life-long resident of Washington State.
He was a butcher for Hygrade for 26 years before the shop closed. He also worked for a number of smaller meat companies before 10 years at Bakery Chef until retirement.
Jim loved building and working on Hydroplanes with his best friend, Gordy Gillmer. Jim also loved riding his Harley motorcycle as often as possible but truly loved spending time with family and friends.
Jim\'s father, James H. Balcom, and brother, Dale Balcom, preceded him in death. Jim is survived by his wife, Becky, of 45 years; his mother, Lorraine Fern Hansen, and two sisters, Judy Cain and Dianne Eiler; 4 children, Donna Kurtz, Kristine Richwine, Christopher Balcom, Kimberly Thach; 8 grandchildren, Jordyn Adams, Shelby Kurtz, Jordan Richwine, Kaitlyn Kerr, Kahleb Richwine, Koltyn Richwine, Riley Thach, and Carson Thach; and 2 great grandsons, Parker Kurtz and Jack Kurtz.
Jim truly loved life and will be greatly missed.
