Frances Marie Nix was born in Sumner, Washington to parents George and Dorthy Barnum. She grew up with sister Caroline and two brothers George (Barney) and Robert.
After graduating from Sumner High School, she trained to become a dental assistant, working 35 years in dentistry. She continued to work another 25 years as a Tacoma Dome security supervisor - retiring at 80 years old. A strong work ethic kept her active and engaged with others.
In 1948, she married Paul Nix, her husband of 55 years. They built their home in Edgewood, in 1950. Frances is survived by her two daughters, Janet Nix and Carrie (Nix) Fagerness, as well as grandchildren Jacob and Katie Westhoff and son-in-law Dave Fagerness.
Frances will be remembered as person who above all else valued family and friends. She was always there to offer love and support. She enjoyed exercising, playing cards, church and any activity involving those she cared about. She found great pleasure in gardening and taking care of her home. She enjoyed an independent life and lived in the home built with her husband until her passing.
A memorial service with reception to follow will be held
