Obituary For Don Wood Jr

Don C Wood Jr passed peacefully at the age of 96 in Puyallup, WA on January 1, 2020. Born in Salt Lake City, UT on July 17, 1923 to Annetta Vincent and Don C Wood Sr. Don was part of the greatest generation who fought in WWII as a B-17 Bomber Pilot, earned the Distinguished Flying Cross, flew 33 missions, and the Air Medal with 2 oak clusters. Don achieved the rank of Captain. During the Korean War, he flew Air-Sea Search and Rescue missions and achieved the rating of Senior Pilot. He married Jodine E. Janish on February 14, 1952 (passed away too soon, on December 13, 2001) and had 3 children, J Bryant, Regina M (Jordan) & Don C Wood III. Don had 8 grandchildren; Shaun, Nick, Chelsea, Ashley, Alison, Darren, Shelby and Kelly, and several great grandchildren. Survived by sister, Marjorie, and brothers David and Calvin. Brother Vincent was pre-deceased. He earned his BA in Business from UC Berkeley, and graduated from the University of Washington with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He practiced dentistry in Northgate, WA and Cypress, CA. Upon retirement from dentistry, Don earned an MFCC & PhD in psychology, and ran a successful counseling practice with his wife for several years. Later years he worked at the San Diego Temple of the LDS Church until he moved to Lake Tapps, WA for his remaining years. He supported local Boy Scout Troop 501, as he was an Eagle Scout and inspired many young men to achieve the rank. Don C Wood Jr will be interred at Tahoma National Cemetery, on Friday, January 31, 2020 @ 2:00 pm. 18600 SE 240th St, Kent, WA 98042
