Obituary For Bruce Marlin Forness

Bruce M. Forness 6/20/43 - 1/11/24 was born in Puyallup and lived in the area all his life. A graduate of Sumner High School, class of 1962. He joined the Army after graduating and became a proud member of the 82nd Airborne at Fort Bragg, N.C. He was a paratrooper and a Rigger (packing parachutes).

After his time in the Army, he made a career in the automotive paint and supplies industry as a sales representative. He was awarded the Account Rep of the Year for the West Coast in 2003 by the Akzo Nobel Company.

He enjoyed backpacking, fishing, his yellow 1936 Ford Coupe, classic car shows, watching football and most of all golfing. He was the past president of the Men's Club at Linden Golf Course. Bruce took much pride in maintaining his yard which is part of his dreamhome built in 1997. He also enjoyed afternoon visits and spirits amongst friends in local downtown establishments.

He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, Grandpa, and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents Olaf and Mabel and his brothers, Norman and Lyle. He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Marla, son Joseph (grandson Garrett), and daughter Gina Ellis, son in law Bruce and (grandchildren Gabrielle, Kendall and Eli Ellis).

    I considered Bruce a friend. We had many evenings together with other friends playing games and general good times. I remember when Bruce and Marla were putting their new house plans in place, Bruce had a lot of fun. I will miss him and feel so fortunate that our paths crossed.

    So sorry to have lost a favorite cousin! Wish I could have visited these last few years! Wasn't in the best of health. He was a great guy!
