Obituary For Almira Jane Laña De La Cruz-Butler

On December 25, 2024, Atty. Almira “Jing” De La Cruz-Butler faced a profound challenge, suffering a pontine brain hemorrhage. Although she was unable to undergo surgery or other medical interventions, she displayed remarkable strength during her eight days on life support at MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital. This time, suspended between hope and uncertainty, allowed her beloved family to gather from across continents, to hear from her doctors, and to share their heartfelt farewells. On 1/1/2025, her spirit was released and returned to heaven.

In keeping with her selfless spirit, Jing made one final, extraordinary gift: the gift of life to others through organ donation. A passionate and loving mother of three, she was also a devoted wife, sister, and aunt. As a pillar of strength, she embodied the essence of love and kindness, lighting up the lives of those around her with her radiant smile and infectious laughter.

Jing’s professional journey mirrored the compassion she offered in her personal life. As a dedicated immigration and human rights attorney, she profoundly impacted countless lives, becoming a beacon of hope for those navigating complex immigration challenges. Her unwavering commitment to her clients was matched only by her tireless advocacy for justice, which set her apart in her field.

With each case, Jing not only provided legal expertise but also extended empathy, understanding, and respect to individuals and families striving for a better future. Her legacy will flourish in the lives she touched, and her remarkable work will continue to inspire all fortunate enough to have known her. While she will be deeply missed, her impact will echo on, a testament to her vibrant spirit and enduring love. In remembrance of Jing, let us all strive to carry forward her light and kindness in the world.
