Obituary For Patricia "Pat" Ann Ellis

Patricia Ann Ellis, 1932-2025, died peacefully on January 14, 2025, in Sumner, Washington. Pat was born April 25, 1932, in Ewing, Nebraska to her beloved mother, Georgia Borgelt. She grew up in Ewing, O’Neill, and later York, Nebraska, raised with
many cousins by her mother, grandparents Fred and Ellen Borgelt, and several loving aunts. Her Aunt Josephine was especially dedicated to her and would later live with her, Jim, and their kids in Sumner, Washington. When she was just fifteen years old, she
tragically lost her mother.
After graduating from St. Joseph High School in York, Pat met the love of her life, James Harlan Ellis Jr. They were married December 27, 1949, and the following year, they welcomed their first of four children, Susan. In March of 1953, the small family left Nebraska for work in Seattle, Washington. Just four months later
they welcomed Sandy in July of 1953, followed by John in 1956, and Lee in 1964. Pat was a dedicated member of the Catholic Church, having attended Catholic schools for all of her elementary through high school education, and was a parishioner of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church since moving to Sumner in 1968.
Pat was incredibly hardworking. In 1959, she started work at Gosney Motor Parts in Auburn, WA as a bookkeeper, and later as the office manager. This decision, and her lifelong and wonderful friendship with Scott Gosney, would prove to be incredibly important in her life as she went on to own and run Gosney Motor Parts until she retired in 2020. During their years as colleagues and friends, Scott was appointed as a subagent of the Auburn License Agency. Pat took this over when he died in 1995, and then oversaw both businesses.
Pat and Jim loved Sun Valley, ID, and Ocean Shores, WA, where many wonderful memories were made on their own and with their children and grandchildren
over the years. Jim passed away in April of 2016. Pat was incredibly dedicated to her family, and loved having everyone over to her house for holidays and celebrations. She was a wonderful cook.
She had ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was well-known as a lover of animals, rescuing countless dogs she loved dearly, most notably Rascal, Pepper, Max, and Sophie, and a cat, Sydney.
Pat will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful caregivers who made her smile so often in her final years: Amanda and Heather at Mountain View, and Jim Otremsky, Judy and Dennis Gunnarson, Julie, and Randi who cared for her at her home.

A funeral mass will be held on January 29th at 11am, with a viewing one hour prior, at
St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, 1401 Valley Ave., Sumner, WA, with a reception to follow.
Interment will be scheduled at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Tacoma or Auburn Humane Society, or Seattle Children’s Hospital.
