Patricia Burns, age 85, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at Good Samaritan Hospital, in Puyallup, WA on March 30, 2025.
Born February 29, in Chicago, Illinois, Pat was the daughter of Bartholomew Joseph and Frances Evelyn (Ward) Murphy. She spent her childhood in Chicago and graduated from Aquinas High School, attended DePaul University and graduated with an Education degree from Chicago Teachers College. Pat married Ronald Burns on July 13, 1963, and they moved to Washington State in 1970 where they raised 7 sons. Pat was a devoted wife and mother, raising all her children to rewarding careers.
In addition to teaching, Pat was a talented calligrapher, oil and tole painter, and gardener. She created many beautiful and unique works for her family, her friends, and her church.
Pat was preceded in death by her father and mother, husband, sister Kathleen Frances (Thomas) Walsh, and brother Bartholomew Joseph (Jane) Murphy. She is survived by her seven sons, Dan (Suzie) of Corvallis, OR, Father Jerry of Sumner, WA, David of Tacoma, WA, Martin (Jody) of Lakewood, WA, Jack of Sumner, WA, Matthew (Ann) of Oak Park, CA, Joseph (Catherine) of Hollywood, MD, 13 beloved grandchildren, one great-grandson on the way, sisters Margaret Delia (Louis) Marchese and Anne Elizabeth (Sam) Bartolotta, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A wake will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025 beginning at 4:00 pm, followed by the Rosary at 7:00pm at Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Sumner, WA.
The funeral mass will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025 at 11:00 am at Saint Andrew Catholic Church.
Pat will be laid to rest at Gethsemane Cemetery on April 4, 2025 at 3:00pm.
