Jesse James Schweickert, 46, tragically passed away in a car accident while on his way to work in Sumner, Washington, on June 5, 2024.

Jesse, a man of dedication, was born on June 8, 1977, in Spring Valley, Illinois, to Vincent Schweickert and JoAnn (Zuccarini) Schweickert. He completed his education at LaSalle Peru High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy, attending Marquette University, earning a bachelor's degree in criminology and law studies; Jesse funded his education through ROTC and other scholarships, thanks to his achievements. While serving in the Navy, he attended Surface Warfare Officer School in Newport, Rhode Island. He received the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for his outstanding performance.

In 2004, Jesse met his future wife, Amanda Plourde, in Utah. Their journey led them to Arizona, where they exchanged vows. Later, in 2007, they settled in Washington, building a family and pursuing their careers. Jesse's professional journey at the City of Tacoma began as a cable technician and later transitioned to working as a wastewater treatment plant operator. But his true calling was his dedication to his family and community. He coached for the Sumner Panthers wrestling team in the Pierce County Junior Wrestling League for many years, a testament to his character and values.

Jesse's deep love for his family was a guiding force. His patience, humor, wit, and intelligence shone brightly for all to see. He cherished moments that brought his family together, such as traveling, camping, playing video games, showcasing his trivia skills, and spending time with his beloved dog, Josh.

Jesse is survived by his wife, Amanda; their children, Ruth and Henry; his mother, JoAnn; sister, Staci (Mike) Sudaj; nieces, Storm and Meadow; sister-in-law, Alexa (Andreu Mestre Pinart) Plourde; niece, Kayla and nephew, James. He was preceded in death by his father, Vinny.

Memorial services are planned in Washington and Illinois. Family and friends will gather to share memories and find comfort in each other's presence, reflecting Jesse's enduring influence and the love he shared with us all.
