Jim Hart Jr., born James I. Hart Jr., on July 6, 1957, died peacefully on January 30, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way, Washington after a ten-day battle with pneumonia. He was 67 years old.

Jim grew up in Auburn, the son of James I. Hart Sr. and Patricia Ronning Hart. Jim was the oldest of three children. Jim began working for his father’s cement business, H&B Cement, when he was sixteen years old. He learned the cement business and worked for several other companies until he began his own business, Hart Construction Company, in 1998. He was able to retire when he was 62 in 2019.

Jim met the love of his life, Kimberly Kurpieski, in August 1981. It was love at first sight, and they were married on January 18, 1982, in Butte, Montana. Jim had an enduring love not only for his beloved wife, but he loved and became a father to Kimberly’s two young children, Jill Marie, who was then 4, and Tyler James, who was then 2. They soon welcomed another son, James Isaac III, and another daughter, Jenna Christine. Jim and Kimberly raised their four children in a small, modest home in Federal Way, while Jim worked as a construction contractor. Jim’s tag line for his business was “Hart Construction Company – We Make Your Dreams Come True.”

In November 2008 God gave Jim the opportunity he had always dreamed of: Jim and Kimberly were able to acquire a home in much need of repair on a beautiful piece of property with a spectacular view of the Green River Valley. Jim went to work with his characteristic strength and determination and Jim was able to move his sweetheart, Kimberly, into their new home on Valentine’s Day 2009.

Jim enjoyed numerous hobbies throughout his lifetime. He would begin an interest and throw himself all the way in until he had mastered it and then move on to another. The list included: tropical fish, deer and elk hunting with both guns and bow and arrow, hiking and scouting for game, boating, salmon and fly
fishing, hydroponic gardening, specialty automobile painting, repairing and selling computers, coaching little league baseball, kite flying, bird watching and feeding, vegetable and flower gardening, camping, and golfing, being able to achieve two Hole in One’s at Lake Wilderness Golf Course.

Jim was a dedicated, zealous believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, from the time he was born again in April 1981. He would regularly read and study the Bible, listen to Bible teachers, especially Alistair Begg, regularly attend Cascadia Church, and frequently
talk about his best friend, Jesus, and share his faith with all he encountered. Jim was not afraid to physically die because he had absolutely no doubt that his soul would pass directly into the presence of the Lord in Heaven. We all rejoice, even through our
grief, that he is more alive now than he ever was and has no more sorrow, pain or hardships.

Jim is survived by his wife Kimberly, daughters Jill (Tim) Sayles and Jenna Hart, sons Tyler (Betsy) Hart and Jimmy Hart, and seven grandchildren (Gavin, Nolan, and Ethan Sayles; Brady and Emma Hart; and River and Aurora Hart.) He is also survived by his father and mother, James and Patricia Hart, and his sisters Donna (Tracy) Johnson and Dana Babcock.

All are invited to Jim’s Celebration of Life on Wednesday, March 5 at 2 p.m. at Grace Community Church in Auburn. It is the Hart family’s wish that any memorial tributes be made in the form of charitable donations to Cascadia Church.
