Obituary For Alan Lorne McDougall

Alan Lorne McDougall was born, to parents William “Scotty” and Mary McDougall, on a beautiful spring day in April of 1945, in Seattle, Washington. He spent his formative years in Washington and graduated from Franklin High School in 1963. After graduating, Al served four years in the United States Navy, spending most of those years at Naval Air Station Miramar in San Diego, California. Once his four years in the Navy were completed, Al moved back to Washington state and met the love of his life, Charlene Briglio.

He was a hard worker, spending summers working in Alaska to save money for family. The love birds married, and Al returned to Washington permanently, beginning his 32-year career with Seattle City Light. Al loved the great outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, golfing, and working in his yard. His love for his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends ran deep. So deeply that he could remember a friend he hadn’t seen in over 50 years. A great storyteller, he would often retell things about his life and the people he had encountered over the years. He was truly a great friend.

Surrounded by his loving family, he passed away on May 13, 2024, in Bonney Lake, Washington. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Charlene McDougall. Alan will continue to be loved by his daughters Kim (Ryan) Westendorf and Shannon Miller; grandchildren Max Mahaffey, Bailey Miller, Mia Isabella Mahaffey, and Khloe Mahaffey; and anyone lucky enough to have met him.

In honor of Alan’s wonderful life, funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 9:30am at Tahoma National Cemetery. A private reception will follow and details will be given to attendees at the closing of the service.

Remembrances can be made in Alan’s name, in lieu of flowers, to Puget Sound Home Health and Hospice, 4002 Tacoma Mall Blvd #204, Tacoma, WA 98409 or by contacting them online at www.pugetsoundhh.com
